The white color of the teeth and surface texture can be affected by a number of factors. For example, demineralization of sub-surface enamel can result in enamel white spot lesions. Discoloration of the enamel may be caused by teas and coffee. Tooth surface texture can be caused by other factors. The resulting discolored and stained teeth make you look older and can be embarrassing. Fortunately, we have a range of treatment options that will brighten your smile and restore a more youthful look with teeth whitening.

When you visit the Smile Design Center, Dr. Sapozhnik will examine your teeth to determine the state of the enamel and then decide on a course of action. Further demineralization can be halted using a combination of hydrochloric acid and laboratory pumice. Teeth with white spots can be bleached and that can be supplemented with remineralization protocols. Superficial enamel discoloration can be removed through erosion and enamel microabrasion, leaving the tooth white and smooth. Microabrasion can even be combined with dental bleaching for optimal esthetic results. Texture defects can be covered with restorative masking or artificial replacements such s resin-based composite or bonded porcelain veneers.
